Cormac was a retired Ranger horse. When Tug was injured by a wolf, the Ranger horse breeder, Old Bob, lent Will Cormac, while he tended to Tug.
Cormac helped stop a caravan of bandits and, during that time, Will discovered that Cormac was indeed the retired Cropper, the horse of Crowley.
