The Emperor of Nihon-Ja Edit
When the remains of the Nihon-Jan Royal Army arrive in the village, the villagers take them in. However, as Toru points out, they created a heavy burden on the villagers, eating up their supplies before winter.
When Eiko and his fellow villagers arrive, Jito is initially unhappy about their presence. But as Eiko tells them of the raid on their village, the two are united through mutual loyalty to Shiergu. After Shirgeru's Senshi take out Arisaka's scouting party, Shigeru tells Jito that Arisaka will blame the Kikori. Jito responds by saying the Kikori have delcared war on Arisaka.
The next time Jito makes an appearance is near the end of the book. Jito was in charge of overseeing the creation of the hedgehogs, and confirms that they are ready. He also organized some women to distribute food to the soldiers.
